Safety Warning!  Please read!  Note that these are routes which local riders have chosen to ride for various reasons, which may include the convenience of the start location and/or the terrain which is covered.  All of these routes are open to traffic, and most contain at least some sections which are heavily travelled by motorists, particularly in the evenings.  Consequently, the risk of injury from a collision with a motorized vehicle cannot be eliminated.  Therefore, please use these routes with the understanding that no implication of safety is being made by their posting.

Gaston County Routes

Forestview High School 5545 Union Rd Gastonia NC 28056

“A” Route Cue Sheet What:  50 miles with two optional shortcuts – Shortcut #1 cuts off 7 miles, Shortcut #2 cuts off 4 miles.  (sheet updated 5-27-07).
Markings:  Course is marked with white “A” and turn arrows once per year in early January for the Polar Bear ride.

“B” Route Cue Sheet
What:  25 mile course (sheet updated 5-27-07).
Markings:  Course is marked with yellow “B” and turn arrows in April each year for use by the weekly club ride which occurs on Monday nights at 6:00p.m. during Daylight Savings Time.

“W” Route Cue Sheet
What:   33 mile course
Markings:  Course is marked with white “W” and turn arrows in April each year for use by the weekly club ride which occurs on Wednesday nights at 6:00p.m. during Daylight Savings Time.

S Route Cue Sheet
What:  35 mile course, with 28 mile shortcut option
Markings:  Course is marked with yellow “S” and turn arrows in November for use by the club as an optional route for Sunday afternoon rides at 1:30 p.m.

Warlick School 1316 Spencer Mtn Rd Gastonia NC 28056

“T” Route Cue Sheet
What:  32 mile course
Markings:  Course is marked with “T” and turn arrows in April each year for use by the weekly club ride which occurs on Tuesday nights at 6:00p.m. during Daylight Savings Time.

“H” Route Cue Sheet
What:  29 mile course
Markings:  Course start/finish at Warlick School, Ranlo.  It was marked with “H” and turn arrows, but is no longer being used.

Gaston County Routes
Crowder’s Mtn State Park (Sparrow Springs Rd)

“C” Route 62 / 37 miles
Current version of “C” route,
with detour of Possum Trot Rd, because of bridge closure effective 3-09 until ??)
“C” Route Cue Sheet 60 / 37 / 22 miles
Old “C” route, which requires traversing a closed bridge on Possum Trot by foot.

Where:  Start/Finish @ Crowders Mtn State Park, main park office on Sparrow Springs Rd
What:  40, & 61 mile courses
Markings:  Course is marked with yellow “C” and turn arrows twice per year – once in April for the Crowders Mountain Metric and once in October for the Carl Andersen Metric.

“DD” Route Cue Sheet and  Dog Days Elevation Profile
This cue sheet is for the routes used through 2008.
For 2009,  a new route will be used, but an updated cue sheet is not yet available.

Where:  Start/Finish @ Old Courthouse, Court Square, Dallas, NC.
What:  25, 46, & 65 mile courses
Markings:  Courses are marked with yellow “DD” and turn arrows in July each year for the Dog Days Ride.
